It is based on the true life story of John Davidson, a Scottish man with severe Tourette Syndrome who, as a teenager, was the subject of the 1989 television documentary <strong><em>\u2018John&#8217;s Not Mad\u2019<\/em><\/strong>. \u00a0The film stars Robert Aramayo as John Davidson, alongside Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, and Peter Mullan in supporting roles.   Scott Ellis Watson makes his acting debut as a young Davidson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>I Swear<\/em><\/strong> premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, then being released in the United Kingdom by StudioCanal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was acclaimed by critics, who praised the performances of Aramayo and Mullan.
